Voigtlander Heliar 15mm 4.5 and Leica Summicron 50mm 2.0 Ernst Leitz GmbH

Sat down this evening and shot a few frames using the Heliar 15mm outdoors and the Summicron indoors.

Summicron 50 f/2.0 on the Sony A7S

Heliar @f/4.5

The Heliar above did pretty well eventhough the minimum aperture used was 4,5 (Exposure : 4secs, iso2500). Focussing at infinity was not a problem, the stars are rendered sharp quite well. As with any wide angle lens the edges do suffer from distortions quite a bit more.  Due to the concave shape of the front element, the lens is prone to flare esp with a bright lightsource ahead. This lens was my favorite walkabout lens with my viewfinderless Bessa L, a great lens to shoot with in crowded streets without having to fiddle with focus ... f/5.6 and the results are sharp all over.

The Sony A7S and Heliar matched up well by the looks of it.

Summicron @f/8.0

The Leica Summicron 50mm f/2.0 is of an older vintage (Serial Nr. 1152066 made in 1953 originally for the Leica IIIf screwmount), and is much older than the Heliar. This lens doesn't have the modern multicoating as current crop of lenses and the front element of this lens has some visible sign of use. However the images it made is still pretty acceptable. I love the soft unfocussed background at f/2.0

That's two lenses ready to be taken out on the street for a spin ... I'm waiting for nice dry day to take them out for a street shoot.
