Tidepool denizens

I was out at Risavika early on Monday trying to capture some images of ducks, and maybe if I get lucky also see a loon. The rocky island is on the coastal path of migrants to the northern corridor breeding ground, so there definitely will be some interesting flybys around this time of year.

It's extremely low tide by the time I was done with the ducks so I decided to crawl around the water's edge and check out the fellas stuck in the tidepool. With the sun shining bright on a cloudless sky in what seems perfect Spring temperatures, what better day to do this? Monday being a workday also means the day couldn't be more perfect ... there's nobody else around and I had the island all to myself.

There's so much to photograph. All images were taken with the Panasonic LX100 handheld with the sun as the only lightsource.

The water clarity here in Norway is simply amazing ... coming from the shores of western Borneo where logging and land clearing are rampant,  you just get washed over by this feeling of "is this for real" everytime you look into the depths of the water here?

One day I'd like to leave a Gopro on the sand tethered to a piece of dried fish and see what comes around to check it out on the sandbed. Judging from the abundance of kelp, the huge clams that the ducks brought up to the surface as well as the mounts on the seabed, I think it's quite lively down there.

The only reason why there's been no snorkellers is probably the cold temperatures in the water. Is 20 deg C really that cold? I never tried.
