After countless stays at the cabin in the woods, mountains and secluded rocky shores, we thought it'd be a good idea to introduce the kids to city holidays, hustle bustle of watching people shop and lazy saunters in the countless art museums of a metropolitan city.
Off to the City of London we went ... to see the Queen and then some.

Night Owls II
So, what do you do then on cloudy nights? You definitely won't dream of seeing the Milky Way or aurora on a choc a block cloudy nights in Stavanger ... then you turn to artificial lights of course. In Stavanger. cloudy nights are a matter of fact not exception, lucky for us nightowls there are some beautiful twinkling lights just around town when the night is dark, cloudy and wet (most nights are in autumn and winter).

Night Owls
What do you do when it's dark and the nights devoid of clouds? In Stavanger you'd rush out to get pictures of the night skies ... who knows you'd get lucky and catch the Milky Way or maybe even an aurora event! Or both!
Other the cold night breeze, it sometimes a wonder why not more are out there into the depth of the nights to capture the beautiful heavenly views up above.

Roldal October Break
We took a long drive to Roldal to checkout a company cabin we've never stayed at before located in an area more famous for it's skiing and summer hikes than autumn walks. All the information center in the area were closed for the season (summer) and we were told they won't open gain until the next snow fall in winter.
The cabin (it's actually a 3rd floor fully furnished apartment in a medium sized apartment complex) was located in a nice spot but in the midst of a populated area and a hotel in front of it! The surrounding roads (leading to Kinsarvik, Haukefjell, Sauda) are in the middle of what could be some of the nicest stretch of road and countryside in these southern parts. There were numerous waterfalls, glaciers, fjordes and forests view to gawk over. In winter the area is touted to be the place with the biggest amount of snowfall, undertsandably it's reputation as a premium sky spot.

It's always nice to go on this short trip as a family together ... every member cooped up in the car going on long drives, or relaxing in a room catching up on family together time.
