Winterising EOS40D for timelapse

Many a times on cold winter nights, doing timelapse can be a pain. The battery dies, or the front lens element fogs up. This winterising is in the hope that fleece can help counter the cold temperatures of the nite and shield the gear from fogging too quickly in prolonged exposure to single digit winter temperatures.

Sunday Birdwatching : Hafrsfjord Bru and Little Stokka

Ali and Aisya foolling around. The Nikon P310 and Prostaff 5 62mm combinaton is a good starter set for birding and video making. With close up views of their subjects, the kids appreciate more what they are seeing. Ability to record and then share or just admire back at the comfort of home is a plus.

Mallards in the reed. They seem to be the most numerous near a water body however we have seen them in puddles to as well as temporary ponds where water collects.

Juvenile swans melt every little kids hearts everytime.

Common Coot galore at a feeding point at Little Stokka.

There's a Water Rail in the reeds somewhere, you can hear it calling consistently but only a few lucky birders have managed to see it in "person".

Young and old enjoy feeding the birds all year around.

Sunspots 12th Jan 2014

EOS100D+EF40/2.8 with Leica APO 77

The Moon with EOS100D

The moon shot on the same nite with my new digiscope set up with EOS100D+EF40/2.8. There's more exposure control on the EOS, it's touchscreen and makes HD videos.

The Moon P5100

Moonscape, zoomed with P5100 lens. The shot made with my old  digiscope set up : Leica APO77+Leica 20-60 Eyepiece+Nikon CoolpixP5100. Still kicking ass after so many years!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Tik tok tik tok ... it's another year gone by.

This year's fireworks display was set up just in front of our house. The kids enjoyed the show just sitting on the little verandah we have.
